Three days ago, I was hurt by someone I thought I could trust in a space that I thought I could be safe. The incident has scarred me mentally and emotionally and I am getting help, along with filing reports. I can tell you for certain that cases like mine do not happen because of pornography, or because of the Internet or media. This person hurt me because he felt like there would be no consequences for his actions. I am disgusted by the fact that Congress continues to push bills like KOSA, ENFORCE, SCREEN, IODA, KOSMA, and more that do nothing to prevent harm to victims in real life. By putting resources into virtue-signalling bills like this, you give people like the man who groped me a shield, a blind spot, and I am lucky he did not get to do worse. But the event was still traumatizing. Imagine how insulting it feels for people who have been routinely sexually assaulted, stalked, groomed, trafficked, groped without consent, to see bills like FOSTA and SESTA pass. You are avoiding the real issues by blaming sex work, pornography, the media and the internet. Please oppose these bills.
