Yesterday's extra-judicial murder of a man who had been disarmed and was fully restrained cannot be tolerated or excused. Even if the Admistration claims that Alex Petti had "brandished" a weapon were true (though video evidence refutes it), once he was restrained, the proper legal options should have been chosen--arrest, indictment, trial. We live in a nation that has long pride itself on following the rule of law. We must do so now. I demand that you, as an elected official, use your authority to stop the atrocities ICE is committing. You can surely identify the parallels to Hitler's "brownshirts" whose legacy continues to tar German history. Your role in history depends upon taking the right step now. ICE must be reined in through congressional actions, including defunding them and impeaching those in their chain of command.
