I am writing to express serious concern regarding reports that the United States is moving toward deeper integration of its military structures and coordination with the Israeli military.
My primary concern is the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, particularly the widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure, including housing, hospitals, schools, and essential services. The scale of devastation and civilian harm raises urgent moral and legal questions, and it is difficult to reconcile these outcomes with U.S. commitments to human rights and international humanitarian standards.
I am also deeply concerned that closer military integration between the United States and Israel further implicates U.S. policy in these outcomes. Increased alignment risks diminishing meaningful oversight and blurring the lines of accountability for actions taken in the course of the conflict.
While I understand and support the goal of a negotiated ceasefire and broader diplomatic resolution, repeated efforts in that direction have not produced sufficient or sustained relief for civilians in Gaza. This heightens the need for Congress to take a more active role in shaping and constraining U.S. military cooperation in the region.
I respectfully urge you to support stronger Congressional oversight of all U.S.–Israel military coordination and to oppose any steps that would further entangle U.S. military structures with ongoing operations in Gaza. Military assistance and cooperation should be subject to clear, enforceable conditions tied to compliance with international humanitarian law and the protection of civilian life.
Given the severity of the situation, I believe Congress has a responsibility to ensure that U.S. policy does not contribute to the continuation or escalation of mass civilian harm.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
