As a constituent and a great-aunt, I am disgusted that Congress still plans to support bills that would censor speech, make obscenity laws even more broad, criminalize free expression, make it easier for cybercriminals to flourish online, create a surveillance state, allow felons like Trump to spy on my nieces and nephews, allow AI to continue creating deepfakes using photos of kids and women, and yet still allows Elon Musk to produce AI generated CSAM without punishment. Texas's SB20 and other bills like it have failed to stop Elon, only seeking to punish fictional creations, victims of abuse, journalists, artists,online fan communities, activists and civil rights groups. Covenant Eyes has seen continual use in spite of the fact that the stepson if it's founder used it to entice minors and meet up with them. Obscenity laws are outdated and are only used to punish minorities, not the powerful individuals who routinely abuse children and are allowed to operate in religious organizations and antiporn groups, along with positions of power. Child marriages still happen in the US, and Epstein's victims have not received justice. Days hacks and leaks? Still happening under age verification and ID requirements online. Bills like KOSA, the SCREEN Act, IODA, ENFORCE and others are not meant to protect. They are made to exploit, violate, and control victims, kids and minorities. Please, stop passing these bills.
