President Trump has no mandate to run our economy or our communities into the ground. His approval rating remains historically low, with the latest Wall Street Journal poll showing just 42% of Americans support the job he’s doing—clear evidence that most of the country does not back his agenda (Wall Street Journal, April 2025). He was not elected to punish working families with tariffs or to gut programs meant to support equity and inclusion. The economic fallout from his tariff plan is severe. The Penn Wharton Budget Model projects that these tariffs will reduce long-term GDP by 6% and cut wages by 5%, costing middle-income families up to $22,000 over their lifetimes. The Tax Foundation warns that the tariffs are effectively a $1,200 tax hike on the average household this year alone. These policies hurt the very Americans he claims to represent. Meanwhile, his attacks on diversity initiatives and immigrant communities are dividing the country and rolling back decades of progress. Stripping DEI programs from federal agencies and threatening mass deportations don’t make America stronger—they make it crueler and less free. Congress must reject this destructive agenda. I urge you to oppose these harmful tariffs and exclusionary policies, and to act now to defend the economic stability and civil rights of all Americans.
