Great communities need great transit. Pennsylvania’s legislature broke its promise and failed to deliver the necessary funding for transit. Now, only you have the power to stop imminent fare increases and service cuts.
In July, you and the PA legislature did not include the essential transit funding in the budget that was passed. Last week, the PA legislature ended their session without addressing the transit issue. There is no more time left to wait: we need you to use your executive authority now to keep our transit systems, economies, and communities from failing on your watch.
Please take executive action and flex federal highway dollars to avert this transit crisis!
After the collapse of I-95, you and officials from various regions and political backgrounds rallied to restore it immediately for 160,000 daily drivers. SEPTA alone served over 791,000 riders per day in September 2024, and well over 1 million Pennsylvanians use transit every day. Public transportation is not a charity cause; it is a foundational pillar of Pennsylvania’s infrastructure.
