The escalating trade war between the US and China is deeply concerning, with tariffs now reaching a punishing 145% rate on Chinese goods entering the country. While a temporary 90-day pause has been announced for most other nations, this offers little relief from the severe economic disruptions these protectionist policies are causing. Tariffs raise costs for businesses and consumers, disrupt supply chains, invite retaliation from trade partners, and threaten American jobs and economic growth. Rather than doubling down on this self-destructive path, I urge you to work towards eliminating all tariffs and restoring free and fair trade. Protectionism is a losing strategy that will only breed more conflict and hurt American workers and families in the long run. Please change course and pursue negotiated trade agreements that expand export opportunities for US businesses and foster continued economic prosperity through robust international trade ties.
