An Open Letter

To: Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters, Rep. Moolenaar

From: A constituent in Rockford, MI

May 30

StopTheVanityCash: Our Currency is Not a Campaign Flyer I am a voting constituent writing for you to assertively block the ongoing attempt to plaster Donald Trump’s face and name across public infrastructure, including the Treasury’s absurd preparation of a $250 bill. The Treasury Department is burning taxpayer-funded time and resources mocking up bills, national park passes, and passports for a living president—an egregious violation of standard historical practice and a blatant misuse of government agencies. Federal institutions belong to the American people, not to one man's personal brand. It is embarassing to watch political appointees and fawning sycophants treat the federal government as a vanity printing press. Our civil servants should be focused on economic stability and national security, not catering to ego-driven branding campaigns. The law strictly prohibits living presidents on currency for a reason: we are a democracy, not a monarchy. I urge you to hold this administration accountable, refuse to pass any authorizing legislation for this currency, and stop the waste of public funds on partisan self-aggrandizement. Do not turn American currency into a billboard for authoritarian sycophancy.
