Demand Full Release of Withheld Epstein Files and Accountability Investigation

To: Rep. Babin, Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Houston, TX

February 4

I am writing to demand accountability for the Department of Justice's failure to comply with the Epstein Files Transparency Act and to urge you to investigate why 3 million pages of documents remain withheld from the public. The DOJ released approximately 3 million pages of Jeffrey Epstein investigative files nearly six weeks after the December 19 legal deadline. However, the department initially identified over 6 million potentially responsive pages. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, who previously served as Trump's criminal defense lawyer, claims the review is complete and obligations fulfilled, yet offers no credible explanation for why half the collected documents were deemed non-responsive. This incomplete disclosure perpetuates the same pattern of protection that enabled Epstein's crimes for decades. Jennifer Plotkin of Merson Law, representing more than 30 victims, stated the released files demonstrate the government "failed the victims over and over again." Dr. Ann Olivarius, founder of McAllister Olivarius law firm, emphasized the critical missing information concerns who protected Epstein, specifically asking "who made the phone call that stopped the 2007 investigation?" Attorney Jennifer Freeman described the process as "a mess from the start, filled with missed deadlines and ham-fisted redactions, while exposing the identities of survivors." The fundamental question is not just about Epstein's crimes, but about systemic failures that allowed him to secure a sweetheart plea deal approximately 20 years ago and avoid federal prosecution until 2019. Over 10,000 redactions in released documents and missing portions of victim FBI files suggest deliberate obstruction rather than transparency. I urge you to demand the DOJ release all 6 million pages identified as potentially responsive, provide a detailed accounting of what was withheld and why, and launch an investigation into who protected Epstein from prosecution. Victims deserve answers and accountability, not continued cover-ups by the very institutions that failed them.
