Demand a Vote on Hegseth Impeachment and the Iran War

To: Sen. Cantwell, Pres. Trump, Sen. Murray, Rep. DelBene

From: A verified voter in Bothell, WA

September 17

Speaker Johnson just sent the House home until November 9, 2026 — after the midterms — specifically to avoid votes on Pete Hegseth's impeachment and the Iran war. That is a deliberate act of cowardice, and voters deserve better. We need a vote on Representative Massie's eight articles of impeachment against Hegseth before this Congress goes home. The case is damning. The Pentagon's own inspector general confirmed that Iranian strikes have destroyed hundreds of buildings at U.S. bases across the Middle East, damaged or destroyed dozens of aircraft, and created "strategic inventory shortfalls." The CBO puts the war's cost at $38 billion and rising at $2 billion a month — driving the inflation that just forced the Fed to raise interest rates. Eighteen service members are dead. More than 800 are wounded. The House has passed a war powers resolution three times. Seven Republicans voted with Democrats. And Johnson's response was to cancel the votes and send everyone home. My vote in November will reflect whether my representatives had the courage to stand on the record or ran from it. Come back, hold the vote, and let the American people see exactly where everyone stands.
