Don't Start Another Iraq in Venezuela

To: Rep. Mannion, Sen. Gillibrand, Sen. Schumer

From: A verified voter in Fayetteville, NY

November 19

We, the undersigned American voters, urgently call on Congress to use its constitutional power to prevent a catastrophic and unauthorized war in Venezuela. The pretext for this escalation—baseless allegations against President Maduro—is a transparent excuse for a war of imperialism, driven by oil interests and the agendas of a few hawkish officials. The American people see through this. We remember Iraq. The consequences would be devastating: · Mass Casualties: A war in a country twice the size of Iraq would lead to millions of deaths and a prolonged quagmire. · Regional Instability: It would destabilize the entire hemisphere, potentially drawing in neighboring countries and creating a massive refugee crisis. · Blowback: Such an act of aggression would be universally condemned, destroying U.S. credibility and inviting generations of blowback. This is not about democracy or humanitarianism. It is a classic neocon maneuver that echoes the darkest chapters of U.S. policy in Latin America, from the Monroe Doctrine to Operation Condor. Most Venezuelans oppose U.S. intervention, and we stand with them. We demand you act immediately: 1. Publicly denounce this unauthorized march to war. 2. Assert your war powers authority to block any military strikes or invasion. 3. Cut off funding for any offensive military action against Venezuela. No war for oil. No war for empire. We refuse to be complicit in another generation of death and destruction in our own hemisphere.
