Funding religious schools through vouchers

To: Sen. Morrison, Rep. Morgan, Gov. Pritzker

Taxpayer funds amounting to billions of dollars are now being diverted to religious schools through voucher programs. This raises concerns over the fundamental principle of separation of church and state enshrined in the Constitution. Public education should remain secular and accessible to all, without promoting or favoring any particular religion. Voucher programs that direct public funds to religious institutions compromise this core democratic value and undermine the neutrality of the state towards religion. To uphold the constitutional principle and protect the rights of all citizens, regardless of their beliefs, it is imperative to reconsider and reform policies that use taxpayer money to subsidize religious education.
