Vote against the hemp provision buried in the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2026. Rep. Andy Harris's 0.4 milligram total THC cap would effectively recriminalize 95% of hemp products currently on the market, according to the U.S. Hemp Roundtable. That's not regulation — it's a ban dressed up in a spending bill. The 2018 Farm Bill built a $28.4 billion industry supporting 300,000 jobs nationwide. In Georgia alone, hemp businesses generate $150 million annually in state tax revenue. Small business owners with employees, mortgages, and customers who rely on these products for anxiety, chronic pain, and sleep would be wiped out by November. If there are bad actors in this industry, regulate them. Don't torch the entire market to satisfy alcohol lobbyists and pharmaceutical companies who see hemp as competition. Support the Hemp Planting Predictability Act to pause these rules until at least 2028 and give Congress time to craft real oversight.
