Protect Constitutional Rights of U.S. Citizens Wrongfully Imprisoned

To: Sen. Schumer, Rep. Clarke, Sen. Gillibrand

From: A verified voter in Brooklyn, NY

April 15

The U.S. is facing reports that dozens of U.S. citizens have been deported and imprisoned in El Salvador's notoriously harsh prisons, which raises significant constitutional concerns. Despite asserting their American citizenship and providing U.S. passports and birth certificates, these individuals have been detained for months without due process or access to lawyers. This denial of constitutional rights and due process protections for U.S. citizens is highly unconstitutional and a violation of their civil liberties. The Trump White House is exploring deporting U.S. citizens. Immediate action must be taken to secure the release of these wrongfully imprisoned U.S. citizens and thoroughly investigate these unconstitutional detentions to prevent any future violations against American citizens.
