On Martin Luther King day, I invite my elected representatives to reflect on our history, on the promises of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Emancipation Proclamation. Collectively, Congress has failed to hold a rogue tyrannical condemned-felon insurrectionist president in check and now our rights, our rule of law, and our international alliances are being broken daily. Please consider: How will you be judged for your failure?............. Because it IS A FAILURE. ...........................................................................................Please consider that our nation owes its existence to the courage of those who enunciated and risked their lives for those promises. Our president, our republican majority and even SCOTUS have descended into FASCISM and RACIAL BIGOTRY. ............................... Read the words of Martin Luther King's I have a dream speech. Here's a brief quotation: "In a sense we have come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men would be guaranteed the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness........................................................... It is obvious today that the U.S. has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned." Under the Trump regime, that promissory note has been torn up. Today a Nazi-tinged white racist christo-fascist supremacy is the agenda of Trump, Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem and Pete Hegseth; they are subservient to Trump who is subservient to Putin; they are distorting the Bible, spreading hatred. Trump acts as if he never intends to leave the White House...................Congress: YOU CAN STOP THIS...................................................DO MORE. In the senate: NO judicial approvals; no confirming nominees. ..........................................I ask you NOT TO AGREE TO any CR unless it enables you to put the brakes on ICE, LIES, the politicisation of the FBI and DOJ and the treason and tyranny coming from the White House. DO YOUR JOB. REMEMBER YOUR OATH. HISTORY WILL JUDGE YOU. Please reply to let me know whether you still intend to honour your oath to the constitution and whether you will take the steps it requires to rein in all agents and agencies which are shredding our rights and the rule of law.
