Recent economic figures from the NEH and the NEA highlight the significance of these institutions, which contribute trillions to the U.S. economy and support million of American jobs. And yet, the Trump administration is eliminating federal support for arts and humanities agencies. Funding for these agencies had already been congressionally mandated and signed into law by people who we elect to represent us. Purportedly, this is being done to enable the repurposing of funding allocations so that there can be new directions better aligned with President Trump's agenda. What his agenda is clear: to erase and rewrite history and to further oppress minorities. In addition to being an unprecedented threat to culture in America, these actions will harm American families, weaken local economies, and undermine our nation's competitive edge. I respectfully demand that you take action to protect us from this damage.
