I urge you to sign on to and strongly support House Bill 1800 (marriage equality) when it reaches the Pennsylvania Senate, and to do everything in your power to secure its passage. HB 1800 modernizes Pennsylvania law by replacing the outdated definition of marriage as a union between a man and a woman with language recognizing marriage as a contract between two consenting adults, and by removing the provision that would void same-sex marriages legally performed in other states. Passing this bill will: - Ensure equal treatment under state law for all loving, committed couples. - Eliminate legal uncertainty and administrative burdens for families already legally married elsewhere. - Keep government neutral on who may marry, consistent with the principle of individual freedom. This is a straightforward civil-rights and good-governance measure that respects privacy and family stability. I ask that you publicly endorse HB 1800, advocate for it on the Senate floor and in committee, and work across the aisle to gather the votes needed for passage.
