If we abandon this role, hostile regimes will exploit the vacuum to spread false narratives unchallenged. Advancing U.S. Strategic Interests These operations are not just about journalism; they are a strategic asset. Weakening them would harm our credibility and diminish U.S. influence abroad. Preserving a Cost-Effective and Powerful Tool Compared to other diplomatic efforts, these broadcasts are an economical and highly effective way to advance U.S. foreign policy. Their closure would not only be a moral failure but also a strategic blunder that weakens our soft power at a time when it is needed most. I urge you to oppose any measures that would defund or dismantle these vital programs. Instead, I encourage you to support their continued operation and expansion, ensuring that the U.S. remains a global leader in press freedom and democracy.
