The United States should refrain from direct military involvement in the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. While tensions are high, committing US forces risks entangling America in an open-ended and potentially catastrophic war. The consequences of military strikes or joining Israel's campaign to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities are unpredictable and fraught with peril. Diplomatic efforts to defuse tensions and pursue a negotiated solution that upholds the principle of a non-nuclear Iran must be vigorously pursued. Unilateral US military action is unwise and risks destabilizing the entire region. A peaceful resolution is imperative to avoid exacerbating an already volatile situation.
