Stand up to Trump's trade war with Canada before it finishes off Midwest farmers. Canada is set to impose tariffs of up to 50% on $20 billion worth of U.S. goods starting September 8, and those tariffs are deliberately targeted at plants in Republican-held congressional districts. Iowa farmers are already telling Senate candidate Josh Turek it's "one gut punch after another." This is not abstract economic policy — it's families losing their livelihoods. The damage goes beyond agriculture. Trump's military adventurism in Iran has cost the U.S. access to roughly 15 Persian Gulf bases, according to retired Army General Barry McCaffrey. Iran now controls the Strait of Hormuz, giving it leverage over dozens of countries. China is filling every gap we leave. Meanwhile, Pete Hegseth gutted the Civilian Harm Mitigation program that his own top commanders unanimously defended, and hundreds of civilians have died as a result. None of this is strength. Renaming lakes, threatening allies, and starting trade wars that punish your own voters is vanity with consequences. The alliances we're burning took generations to build.
