Dear Senator
I am writing to strongly urge you to oppose the so-called Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act (H.R. 22 / S.128), which recently passed the House. As your constituent, I am furious that such an extreme, anti-voter bill is being considered in the Senate.
This bill is not about election security—it is about voter suppression. The SAVE Act would require people to present a birth certificate or passport in person to register to vote. Millions of eligible Americans, including your own constituents here in Georgia, do not have easy access to these documents.
Let me be clear:
• More than 21.3 million Americans lack immediate access to documentary proof of citizenship.
• Over 140 million Americans do not have a passport.
• Women—especially the 69 million who have taken a spouse’s last name—often have mismatched legal documents.
• Transgender individuals face unique and often insurmountable barriers to getting documents that reflect their identity.
• People with disabilities already face disproportionate obstacles when voting—this bill will only deepen the inequality.
• And Americans of color are significantly more likely to lack the documents this law would require.
This bill is not just discriminatory—it is a direct attack on women, poor people, disabled people, transgender people, military voters, and especially on Georgians like me. Georgia already has strict voting laws. Adding unnecessary burdens to the registration process will only further disenfranchise those of us who already face systemic barriers.
I am outraged that in 2025, we are still fighting these battles. I demand that you stand up for democracy, stand up for your constituents, and vote NO on the SAVE Act. There is no credible evidence of widespread voter fraud. This bill is not about protecting our elections—it’s about silencing the voices of the very people you were elected to represent.
Protect the right to vote. Oppose the SAVE Act.
