The Illinois Human Rights Advocacy Protection Act

To: Rep. Foster, Sen. Duckworth, Sen. Durbin

From: A constituent in Woodstock, IL

February 17

I would like to see support for The Illinois Human Rights Advocacy Protection Act, introduced by Rep. Rashid and Sen. Porfirio, which would restore protections for peaceful advocacy by repealing the state's 2015 anti-boycott law targeting advocates for Palestinian rights. Illinois makes Israel uniquely immune from peaceful protest and objecting to their actions. As a humanitarian catastrophe continues to unfold before our eyes due to Israeli policy of occupation and apartheid in Palestine, Illinoisans reserve the right to engage in peaceful protest and express their belief in a just peace. We must work to protect these rights. HB 2723 / SB 2462 are gaining momentum with more legislators committing to stand publicly on this issue than ever before with 37 legislators already publicly signing on to the bills as co-sponsors. Please support this effort.
