Elected Official, I am writing to express my deep alarm about the current war with Iran and the conduct of this administration. President Trump’s public statements and posts regarding this conflict have been confusing, contradictory, and at times detached from reality. At a moment when American lives and global stability are at stake, the American people deserve honesty, competence, and lawful leadership. Instead, we are witnessing reckless decision-making and a troubling lack of accountability at the highest levels of government. Decisions about war and peace cannot be driven by impulse, personal grievance, or political distraction. The Constitution grants Congress the authority to declare war for a reason: to prevent unilateral and dangerous military actions. This war, initiated without clear justification and without proper congressional authorization, raises serious legal and moral concerns. Americans deserve to know why our country has been drawn into another conflict and what the actual objectives are. So far, those answers have not been clearly provided. Equally troubling is the role of senior officials surrounding the president. Individuals such as Pete Hegseth, Stephen Miller, Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, and Vice President J.D. Vance hold positions of enormous influence and responsibility. If they are enabling reckless or unlawful actions rather than upholding their duty to the Constitution and the American people, they must also be held accountable. Our nation cannot be governed by corruption, incompetence, or unqualified leadership while American lives and global stability hang in the balance. If the president is unwilling or unable to faithfully execute the duties of the office, Congress must act. The 25th Amendment exists for moments when a president’s capacity to lead is in serious question. Impeachment and removal are constitutional remedies when abuses of power occur. The American people, our service members, and our democracy deserve responsible leadership and respect for the rule of law. I urge Congress to exercise its constitutional authority and restore accountability. This must end.
