The proposal to sell off thousands of acres of federal public lands in Nevada and Utah for affordable housing and other development is concerning. These lands belong to all Americans and play a vital role in preserving our natural heritage, wildlife habitats, and recreational opportunities. Opening them up for sale could lead to exploitation by wealthy interests at the expense of the broader public good. Transferring federal lands to state or private control risks putting short-term profits ahead of long-term conservation and environmental protection. While affordable housing is a pressing need, there are other solutions that don't involve sacrificing our shared natural resources. Federal lands should be managed responsibly for the benefit of current and future generations, not auctioned off to the highest bidder. I urge you to reject any measures that would enable the sale or transfer of federal public lands, and instead focus efforts on sustainable development and housing policies that protect our invaluable natural spaces. These lands are a national treasure that must be preserved for all Americans to appreciate and enjoy.
