I’m writing to demand that Governor Lee deny any request by the Trump administration to deploy state National Guard troops to conduct local law enforcement. Using the military to police Americans is a costly abuse of power designed to scare communities and silence dissent. It must be immediately rejected. I know Memphis being treated the same way Chicago is currently being treated makes you and your team very happy. But please don't make this yet another "tough guys posing for pictures" photo op the president is so consistently fond of. Act somewhat proud of the trending downturn in violent crime. Help provide more local infrastructure to improve Memphis not for you and your standing with the president, but for Memphians. Thank you for your time and consideration.
