I am writing to urge you to support articles of impeachment against President Trump for his betrayal of American interests in favor of Russian objectives. His repeated amplification of Kremlin talking points and undermining of Ukraine demonstrates a pattern of conduct that threatens our national security and violates his oath of office. Trump's recent statements accepting Putin's framework for Ukraine represent a fundamental abandonment of American strategic interests. He has echoed Russian propaganda claiming "Russia wants to see Ukraine succeed" even as Russian forces continue daily attacks on Ukrainian civilians. On the day Trump met with Putin's representatives at his Florida resort, Russian guided aerial bombs killed a man in Sloviansk and injured three others. The previous day, Russian missiles and drones killed one person and wounded 27 in Kyiv. Trump's willingness to ignore these facts while promoting Putin's narrative demonstrates whose interests he serves. The proposed agreement Trump supports would reward Putin's illegal invasion by allowing Russia to keep all seized territory in four Ukrainian regions plus Crimea. Putin's adviser Yuri Ushakov confirmed Russian police and national guard would remain even in supposedly demilitarized zones, ensuring permanent occupation. This framework gives Putin everything he sought through military aggression and sets a catastrophic precedent that will embolden authoritarian regimes worldwide to seize territory by force. Trump's conduct meets the constitutional standard for impeachment. He is using his office to advance the strategic objectives of a hostile foreign power that interfered in our elections, maintains an active cyberwarfare campaign against American institutions, and seeks to dismantle the international order that has prevented major power conflicts for eight decades. I also urge you to call for the removal of Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, who has facilitated these negotiations that serve Russian rather than American interests. Congress must act immediately to protect our national security and hold accountable those who betray their duty to our country.
