I am writing to express my profound disgust and outrage at your recent vote in favor of HR 4371, the so-called "Kayla Hamilton Act." Your decision to join with Republicans in passing this cruel and inhumane legislation has proven you to be compromised and morally corrupt. By voting to expand ICE’s power to detain children longer, imprison them in harsher facilities, separate them from non-citizen family, and subject them to invasive strip searches, you have chosen to inflict deliberate harm on some of the most vulnerable human beings in our care. You have the blood of innocents on your hands. There is no other way to view your support for this bill, which the ACLU has clearly outlined as a grave human rights abuse. With this vote, you have proven that you are nothing short of a centrist that has joined the American MAGA Nazi party. While these words are harsh, they are the only accurate way to describe your alignment with a party and an ideology that revels in the persecution and dehumanization of migrants. I am physically nauseated that you dare to call yourself a Democrat and have the gall to represent me. You do not represent the values of our district, our party, or basic human decency. Therefore, I will do everything in my power to inform every neighbor and fellow Nassau County resident of your part in these atrocities. I will work tirelessly to ensure you lose all future elections to your challengers and that you are defeated in any and all Democratic primaries. Your political career, built on a pretense of compassion, ends with this vote. Finally, there is something clearly and extremely wrong with you. Perhaps instead of pursuing a career in politics, you should spend more time consulting with mental health professionals to understand how you could so callously abandon the vulnerable to cruelty.
