This bill would strip states of their constitutional right to set minimum animal welfare standards for products sold within their borders—permanently, with no sunset provision. What's at Stake Every state that passed animal welfare protections because voters demanded them would see those democratic choices nullified by federal legislation. States like California, Massachusetts, Florida, Arizona, and 10 others would lose the ability to enforce the standards their citizens voted for.
