Support the GRANITE Act to Block Foreign Censorship of American Speech

Please co-sponsor and vote yes on the GRANITE Act, introduced by Senator Mike Lee on September 23. This bill would stop US courts from recognizing or enforcing foreign judgments that punish speech protected by the First Amendment — and it would give Americans the right to sue when foreign governments try to silence them. The threat is real and already here. Ofcom, the UK's speech regulator, sent at least 197 notices to US companies between February 2025 and April 2026. When 4chan sued Ofcom in federal court, Ofcom argued its laws apply in the US while simultaneously claiming US courts have no jurisdiction over it. That's an impossible standard designed to let foreign bureaucrats censor Americans without consequence. The GRANITE Act fixes this by amending the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act to remove that immunity in censorship cases. The Constitution does not bend to Brussels or London. Every notice a US company receives is a quiet ultimatum — comply and delete the content, or fight a costly legal battle. Most of the time, the post loses. This bill changes that calculus. Support it.
