Hochels fails to carry out New Yorks word to redistricting congressional maps!

To: Gov. Hochul, Assembly Member Palmesano, Sen. O'Mara

From: A constituent in Bath, NY

September 4

What happened to Kathy Hochels Plan to Redraw Congressional Maps??? How are YOU developing the strategy in our state?? You said "Game On". We expect ACTION, or you will NOT be re-elected! This strategic initiative is a necessary response to the ongoing redistricting efforts in other states, particularly Texas, which threaten to skew national representation unfairly. Governor Newsom's plan aims to flip at least five congressional seats to Democratic control in the 2024 midterm elections. This move is not just about partisan gain, but about ensuring fair representation for Californians in Congress. The proposal requires a constitutional amendment, which would allow for changes to our congressional map until 2030, after which we would return to our current system of using an independent citizens' commission. Can we do the same in our state? It's crucial to understand that this is a measured and time-limited response to extraordinary circumstances. The plan is designed to "meet fire with fire" in reaction to alleged attempts by former President Trump to influence Texas redistricting. We cannot stand idly by while other states manipulate their maps to gain undue advantage. I believe that once voters understand the urgency of the situation and the temporary nature of this change, they will see the necessity of this action. Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. We cannot stand by and watch our democracy be taken away from us.
