Resist Compulsory Warfare: Abolish the Infrastructure of the Military Draft
To: Sen. Peters, Rep. Bergman, Sen. Slotkin
From: A constituent in Beulah, MI
July 7
WE, THE UNDERSIGNED CITIZENS AND RESIDENTS, declare our fundamental and unyielding opposition to any attempt by the federal government to compel citizens into military service or force participation in military conflicts. Freedom of conscience and bodily autonomy are absolute rights that no act of government can override. We observe with deep concern the ongoing automation and expansion of the Selective Service System, specifically the legislative mandates moving toward fully automatic registration via federal and state databases. Compulsory military service and the automated tracking of citizens for potential warfare are fundamentally incompatible with a free society. Therefore, we demand the immediate implementation of the following legislative and executive protections: • 1. Repeal the Military Selective Service Act: We call on Congress to immediately pass the Selective Service Repeal Act, completely dismantling the Selective Service System and erasing all requirements and database tracking for a potential military draft. • 2. Halt Automatic Registration Mandates: We demand an immediate repeal of all legislative measures that allow the government to automatically register individuals for the Selective Service using state DMV, Social Security, or federal data without their explicit, manual consent. • 3. Absolute Prohibition on Involuntary Conscription: We demand a permanent legal ban on the activation of any general or special-skills draft. The government must never possess the authority to wage wars using an unconsenting, conscripted population, regardless of whether a conflict has been formally authorized by Congress. • 4. Broaden and Protect Conscientious Objector Status: We demand the absolute protection of any individual who, by reason of moral, ethical, or religious belief, is opposed to participation in war. The legal framework for Conscientious Objection must be expanded, simplified, and protected from state-sanctioned civil, economic, or criminal penalties. Our Pledge of Peaceful Resistance Let it be known that any attempt to weaponize state infrastructure to force citizens into military service will not be met with compliance. It will be met with organized, systemic, and unyielding peaceful resistance. We pledge to utilize every constitutional, legal, and community-based avenue—including mass non-cooperation, robust Conscientious Objection advocacy, and public assembly—to protect our communities and refuse the machinery of war. Our bodies and our lives belong to ourselves, our families, and our communities—not to the military-industrial complex. Shut down the infrastructure of the draft. Repeal automatic registration. Choose peace.
