Investigate Hegseth's Hypocritical Testosterone Program

To: Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters, Rep. Walberg

From: A verified voter in Stevensville, MI

July 19

Pete Hegseth purged transgender servicemembers from the military 17 months ago, claiming hormone use harmed readiness. Now he's offering free testosterone injections to cisgender troops. You need to investigate this program and demand accountability for the blatant double standard it represents. The science doesn't support this initiative. Clinically low testosterone primarily affects men over 45 with conditions like obesity and sleep apnea — not the physically active population that makes up most of our military. For men who don't actually need supplemental testosterone, the risks are serious: worsening sleep apnea, increased prostate cancer risk, reduced sperm production, and potentially fatal blood clots. Hegseth is pushing an unnecessary medical intervention on healthy troops while the man overseeing it has faced accusations of sharing classified information with journalists, placing family members in government positions, and breaching security protocols. Trans troops were discharged for using hormones prescribed by their doctors. Now Hegseth wants to hand out testosterone to men who likely don't need it, at taxpayer expense, with real health consequences on the line. That's not a readiness policy. Demand a full accounting of the medical justification behind this program and the qualifications of whoever signed off on it.
