Immediate Action Required: VA Policy Changes Undermine Equal Access to Care

To: Sen. McCormick, Sen. Fetterman, Rep. Mackenzie

From: A verified voter in Orefield, PA

June 16, 2025

I’m a female veteran who relies on VA care. The recent rule changes letting VA doctors deny treatment based on marital status, political affiliation, or other non-protected traits are a direct threat to veterans like me. This policy guts ethical care and turns VA hospitals into political battlegrounds. Removing protections against bias—especially for survivors of military sexual trauma, LGBTQ+ vets, and rural veterans—puts lives at risk. These changes were made with no input from medical staff or veterans’ groups. VA healthcare must be based on need, not ideology. I urge you to act now: demand VA reinstate protections for all veterans and launch a full investigation into how these rules were pushed through. Support veterans by defending our right to equal care. Do your job!
