Gerrymandering TN9 at Trump’s behest would be a mistake. TN9 is simply West TN. It’s majority Black because that’s who lives there. Splitting it up leaves urban West TN with no real representation at the National level, and also dilutes the representation for rural and suburban West TN because it creates Frankenstein districts that are a little bit of everything. The way to get a Republican in TN 9 is to run one who speaks to the people and takes their needs to DC, the same way our representatives do at the state level.
