An Open Letter

To: Sen. Gillibrand, Sen. Schumer

From: A constituent in Lake Placid, NY

April 15

Please don't let the Senate vote to destroy America’s most visited wilderness! H.J. Res. 140 would wipe out the 20-year mining ban protecting the Boundary Waters watershed in Minnesota. 225,000 acres of Superior National Forest. 1,100 lakes. This is the most visited wilderness in the country. If the Senate passes it and Trump signs it, the protections are gone. Plus, the company that wants to mine there is Chilean-owned Twin Metals, which plans to ship the ore to China. This isn’t “America First.” This is selling out American public lands to foreign interests permanently. Please vote NO on H.J. Res. 140 and work hard to get other senators to do the same!
