As your constituent, I am contacting you because I am deeply concerned about the upcoming appropriations bill's ban on humanitarian funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) until 2025. This decision is troubling, especially given the U.S.'s responsibility as the largest donor to UNRWA.
Congress must prioritize defending humanitarian aid in Gaza by voting NO on this bill. Congress should focus on defunding Israel’s violations of international humanitarian law, not life-saving aid.
Denying aid to Gaza is inhumane and violates international law, especially as recent findings show acute food insecurity and imminent famine for all Palestinians in Gaza.
I urge you to reject any legislation hindering humanitarian funding and to prioritize ending violence and protecting civilians and aid workers in Gaza. Please stand on the right side of history by defending humanitarian aid for Gaza. Funding for UNRWA should, and must, continue in line with the Department of State’s 2023-2024 Framework of Cooperation with UNRWA.
Thank you for your time.
