I’m writing as a deeply concerned constituent who is furious that Congress still hasn’t passed a responsible budget — and that ordinary Americans are paying the price.
You need to come to the bargaining table now. Extend the Affordable Care Act subsidies. Roll back the devastating Medicaid cutbacks. And pass a budget that doesn’t screw over the very people you were elected to serve.
It is absolutely repugnant that SNAP benefits are being jeopardized and that active-duty military service members are going unpaid because of political brinkmanship in Washington. These are working families, veterans, seniors, and children — not bargaining chips.
The American people are watching. We expect leadership. We expect compassion. And we expect our elected officials to prioritize the needs of their constituents over partisan games and billionaire tax cuts.
Do your job. Protect healthcare. Fund essential programs. Pay our troops and feed our people.
