No Taxpayer Money to El Salvador for Forced Disappearances

To: Sen. Markey, Rep. Auchincloss, Sen. Warren

From: A constituent in Newton, MA

April 16

During Senator Chris Van Hollen’s visit to El Salvador on April 16th, Salvadoran Vice President Felix Ulloa confirmed that Kilmar Abrego Garcia is being held prisoner without due process or any evidence he is a gang member because the Bukele regime is being paid to do so by the Trump Administration. Published reports indicate this White House is sending El Salvador $6 million to hold their abductees captive. This directly contradicts sworn declarations by Trump officials and makes it clear their excuses for why they cannot bring him back home as federal judges have ordered are flagrant lies. It is also an outrageous and obscene use of our money. We do not pay taxes to support blatant violations of basic rights and forced disappearances. Please act immediately to permanently ban any taxpayer funds from being transferred to El Salvador and the Bukele regime to hold those Trump has grabbed off the street and illegally transported overseas for pretended offenses. And do whatever is necessary to bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia home.
