Pass legislation to ensure the funds allocated for USAID are accessible and used to fund the organizations that both democrats and republicans agreed to fund!
It is not an exaggeration to say that fifty million people in places like Sudan are in immediate danger of starvation.
This is money that both
Republicans and
Democrats agree should be used to help people.
The money has already been allocated. The food and medicine is sitting in warehouses.
Helping save lives is not just a
humanitarian endeavor, it's a strategic one.
From a foreign policy perspective, it makes no sense to willingly allow people to starve when we have the ability to help. It breeds resentment. It radicalizes people against the United States. It incentivizes violence.
Leaving an aid vacuum also allows other countries like Russia and China to come in and exert their influence, which is strategically bad for the United States.
Refusing to release already allocated aid that is sitting in warehouses while children starve is cruel.
And it's bad foreign policy.
Do everything within your power to insist that funds are used the way Congress directed. Congress holds the purse.
