Their ability to function without political interference is a cornerstone of our democracy, ensuring that policy decisions are driven by facts, expertise, and the public interest rather than partisan agendas. This is not governance—it is authoritarianism. Regardless of party affiliation, every member of Congress should recognize the dangerous precedent this sets.
