Revoke Musk's DOGE access to protect public institutions

To: Gov. Shapiro, Sen. Laughlin, Rep. Merski

From: A constituent in Erie, PA

February 4

I share concerns regarding Elon Musk's DOGE task force gaining control over the Treasury Department's payment system and access to sensitive personal data like Social Security numbers. As a billionaire with significant business ties to China, granting him this level of access to the nation's financial infrastructure raises major national security risks. There are legitimate worries that DOGE could potentially disrupt critical payments to millions of Americans, from Social Security benefits to federal employee salaries. This unilateral decision threatens to undermine public trust in the government's ability to fulfill its core responsibilities. We cannot allow an unelected, unaccountable private entity to wield such immense power over the disbursement of trillions in federal funds and the private data of taxpayers. I urge you to take immediate action to revoke DOGE's access and ensure the Bureau of the Fiscal Service remains under proper oversight to safeguard this crucial system. Protecting the integrity of our public institutions and the personal information of citizens must be a top priority. Transparency and accountability demand that control over this payment system is restored to career civil servants who can execute their duties free from conflicts of interest or ulterior motives.
