Keep pardons above politics

To: Sen. Peters, Sen. Slotkin

I’m extremely concerned about President Trump’s decision to commute George Santos’s sentence. The pardon power is meant to correct injustice, not to reward political loyalty. When clemency is used as a favor for allies, it damages public trust and erodes the rule of law. I urge you to continue to speak out and push for oversight that ensures pardons and commutations serve justice rather than politics. Our democracy depends on accountability and fair application of the law. No one, including a president, should be above it. Thank you for your continued leadership and for defending the integrity of our government.
