Furthermore, the overbroad language of this bill could have unintended consequences for common practices in fertility treatments like IVF, putting individuals and medical professionals at risk of prosecution. By stripping away autonomy over one's body and reproductive choices, HB 518 undermines equal opportunities and perpetuates systemic discrimination against marginalized communities. To uphold fundamental human rights and ensure access to essential healthcare services, voting against HB 518 is imperative. This regressive legislation disregards scientific evidence, tramples on constitutional protections, and gravely endangers the well-being of Alabamians.
