Wildfires are a record levels. Treat then as the crisis that they are and take all actions possible. Please: hold hearings, investigate and use subpoenas powers to compel testimony, invite climate and forestry and fire fighters as witnesses and legislate. This year has been a record high for wildfires. Ignorant comments blaming Canada for smoke are a harmful distraction. This year has brought 129% of the 10-year average in the number of fires and 171% of the 10-year average in acres burned. It's not going to get better. This problem needs to be addressed at national and state level. I ask my representatives to lead the way. Climate change mitigation , water management and supply, and forest management are all areas for action. Yet harmful policies (like vast amounts of water being diverted to data centers, fossil fuel use increase, and cuts to the National Forest Service continue.) This crisis is a threat to human life and livilihood, to habitat, ultimately to the sustainability of life on earth. It's not going to get better by itself. The administration's response,-- ranging from delayed aid, to ICE kidnapping irefighters who risk their lives, to constant abetting of the environmental destruction that worsens risk, to silly Canada blaming-- it's a disgrace and should be called criminal neglect. Congress needs to step up, urgently. Please, lead the way.
