I am writing to demand that you take immediate action to ensure federal criminal prosecution of ICE agent Jonathan Ross for the killing of Renee Good, a 37-year-old US citizen and mother of three, on January 7, 2026, in Minnesota.
An independent autopsy commissioned by Good's family reveals four gunshot wounds, including a fatal shot to the left side of her head near the temple that exited the right side. NYU law professor Ryan Goodman has called this "the easiest criminal case of a willful killing," citing strong evidence against Agent Ross based on what the autopsy reveals about his second or third shot through the left-side window of Good's vehicle. Lead attorney Antonio M. Romanucci, who represented George Floyd's family, states that video evidence is clear when viewed through standards of reasonable policing and totality of circumstances.
Instead of pursuing justice, the Department of Justice has refused to open a civil rights investigation into Good's death. Multiple DOJ officials, including prosecutors and Civil Rights Division staff, have resigned over this case. The administration has attempted to characterize Good as a "domestic terrorist" despite video evidence, eyewitness accounts, and expert analysis contradicting claims of self-defense.
Most troubling, the DOJ is now investigating Minnesota officials for alleged conspiracy to impede federal immigration agents, subpoenaing Governor Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, Saint Paul Mayor Kaohly Her, and county attorneys Mary Moriarty and John Choi. This represents a dangerous inversion of justice, targeting those seeking accountability rather than prosecuting the agent who killed an American citizen.
I urge you to publicly call for federal criminal charges against Jonathan Ross and demand that the DOJ fulfill its obligation to investigate civil rights violations. Renee Good's three children deserve justice, and Americans deserve accountability when federal agents use lethal force against citizens.
