I am writing to express my profound shock and outrage over the Justice Department’s creation of a $1.7 billion "Anti-Weaponization Fund." This unprecedented arrangement, structured to settle Donald Trump’s personal lawsuit against the IRS, represents a brazen act of self-dealing and a direct assault on the rule of law.  By dropping a flawed, personal $10 billion lawsuit against an agency he currently controls, the President has successfully pressured his own DOJ into establishing a taxpayer-funded pool to financially reward his political allies. Reporting indicates that among the prime beneficiaries eligible for these payouts are the very individuals who participated in the violent January 6th insurrection.  It is deeply exasperating to watch the federal government effectively monetize an attempted coup. Rewarding individuals who actively tried to subvert the 2020 election results and disrupt the peaceful transfer of power is a grotesque misuse of public money. When those who assaulted our democratic institutions are prioritized for financial compensation while deep-seated, historic inequities across our country remain unaddressed, the message sent to the American people is devastating.  This fund is a dangerous misuse of the Treasury's Judgment Fund, operating as an opaque political slush fund to rewrite the history of an insurrection. We are witnessing the normalization of corruption at the highest level of leadership.  As your constituent, I urge you to use every legislative and oversight mechanism at your disposal to investigate, defund, and halt this settlement. Congress cannot sit idly by while public funds are weaponized to reward lawlessness and cronyism. I look forward to hearing about the concrete actions you will take to protect our taxpayer dollars and defend the integrity of our republic
