Trump's antics are overwhelming the federal judiciary system. There are more lawsuits against the administration than I have ever heard of before. The courts simply can't keep up, and when they act, Trump ignores them and does as he pleases. While impeachment of Trump and his lackeys would remove the cancer at its source, that's impractable with the current Congress. Administrative graft is another matter. There are supposed to be 5 FCC Commissioners. There are currently only 3. Of these 3, 2 are seriously compromised, and the 3rd is potentially being unduly influenced by an entity seeking FCC approval. Paramount Skydance wants to merge with Warner Bros Discovery. It would create a broadcast monopoly and they can't do it without FCC approval. Commissioner Olivia Trusty has accepted gifts from Paramount worth at least $12,000. FCC Chair Brenden Carr has accepted gifts from Paramount worth at least $63,000. Those are Paramount's most recent gratuities. Commissioner Anna Gomez has accepted Paramount gifts in the past. While I have no proof these gifts from Paramount are intended to influence the FCC to approve the merger, it certainly carries the appearance of intended bribery. As such, all 3 Commissioners seem compromised in their ability to make an impartial decision regarding the needs of the country against Paramount's request. FCC members accepting gifts from Paramount that look like graft is in the public records, though FOIA requests may be needed to get it. Congress could vote to investigate or impeach and demand the merge vote be postponed until that's concluded. FCC Commissioners are appointed by the President with Senate approval required. You can amend the law to require voting on matters needing FCC approval *must* be voted on by the *full* FCC panel of Commissioners as provided by law, and preventing staffers from casting proxy votes. A clause stating any Commissioner who accepts a gift worth more than $25 within 10 years of the giver having business with the FCC *must* recuse themselves with an "abstain" vote. Solving the problem without impeachment can be done by adding 4 members to the panel, maintaining the voting balance, including the gift/recusal clause, and preventing the potentially compromised members from forcing the outcome.
