The peaceful transition of power should not extend to insurrectionists who incite violence against democratic processes. Donald Trump's actions on January 6th, 2021 demonstrated a flagrant disregard for the Constitution and rendered him unfit to hold the nation's highest office. Invoking the 14th Amendment to prevent his inauguration would uphold, not undermine, constitutional principles by ensuring those who rebel against the United States are barred from positions of public trust. This measure should be pursued to safeguard the integrity of elections and deter future attempts to subvert the will of the people through illegal means. The nation cannot simply move on from such an egregious assault on democracy without accountability.
