YOUNG DEMOCRATS OF MCHENRY COUNTY, McHenry County, Illinois On July 12, 2024. ON ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT OF JUSTICES SAMUEL ALITO, JR. AND CLARENCE THOMAS. We write to you as an ever-expanding constitutional crisis is at hand relative to the actions and conduct of Associate Justices of the Supreme Court Samuel Alito, Jr. and Clarence Thomas. Whereas statutes have declared limited ethical oversight concerning Supreme Court justices compared to lower level court justices, abuse will be extraneously tolerated. The Young Democrats of McHenry County (YDMC) have joined in the resolve of the American people’s demand for strict oversight and the removal of moneyed interests in our court system. While proposed resolutions are upcoming, such as The High Court Gift Ban Act, to expand institutional limits on actions Congress deems to be erroneous from ethical standards that should be upheld, further action must be taken to demonstrate repercussions of illicit actions. Be it resolved that the Young Democrats of McHenry County supports the proposed articles of impeachment against Justices Samuel Alito, Jr. and Clarence Thomas for their failure to disclose personal and familial financial interests in cases they refuse to recuse themselves from, as well as failure to recuse themselves from cases they retain a personal bias towards one party within. These reasons impose a necessity for the articles of impeachment to progress to set regulations and consequences for the highest court in America. Young Democrats of McHenry County urges you to join your fellow congresspeople in cosponsoring the articles of impeachment proposed by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) to remove corrupt, unethical parties from the highest court in the land, to lend support to a motion of reformism relative to the supreme court, and to remedy the constitutional crisis America finds itself in. Failure to cosponsor and act against the members SCOTUS is a misguided decision and is un-American. As elected representatives of the people of the United States of America, you have the responsibility to hold SCOTUS accountable for their contempt for the Constitution, the rule of law, and the American people; and furthermore defend the American people from “the second American Revolution.” It is your sworn duty and we, the Young Democrats of McHenry County, call on you to exercise your legislative power, as bestowed upon you when we elected you. Thank you for your attention to this important and increasingly urgent matter.
