Arrested Judge in Milwaukee - Another Abuse of Power
To: Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand, Rep. Clarke
From: A constituent in Brooklyn, NY
April 26
Yesterday, the Trump regime arrested a judge in Milwaukee. This is yet another move for power. Trump used the FBI (gestapo?) and shows President (Dictator?) Trump's thirst for power. He has yet again disregarded what is supposed to be an independent and equal branch of government in the judiciary. He has done this multiple times, most notably by disregarding the Supreme Court in their unanimous decision to return Abrego Garcia from the prison (concentration camp?) in El Salvador. When is enough enough? Congress needs to take bold steps to save our Republic from becoming the dictatorship that Trump seems to want. I implore you to reach out and work with your reasonable and moderate Republican peers and find the middle ground that surely is there. Republicans such as Senator Murkowski and Senator Collins come to mind and I'm sure there are others that don't believe in what is happening to our government since Trump was inaugurated. Their fear of persecution by Trump and the oligarchs that threaten to fund primary challengers is preventing them sadly from doing the right thing. I'd like to see a more deliberate and public response from the Democrats as well. Senator Sanders and AOC are leading that charge, at least in the public view. With the protests led by 50501 and other groups, there clearly is discontent in the country with Trump's march towards authoritarian rule. That middle ground includes following the Constitution and their oaths to uphold it. It includes rule of law, including due process. It includes equal rights for all, not taking rights and benefits away from minorities, women and disabled people who are the most vulnerable in our society. It certainly includes not asking another nation, El Salvador at this time, to build concentration camps to house whom Trump and his regime seem undesirable. It includes returning the power of tariffs and funding the government to Congress where it belongs. It includes funding departments such as FEMA and the many other departments they're shutting down and getting like Social Security that people deserve and rely on. This regime of course believes that the government should take care of the rich, he said as much when he said millionaires would leave the country if taxed more. This is supposed to be a government of the people, for the people and by the people. Not the top economic one percent! We should stand for democracy and support our allies, i.e. Ukraine, rather than parrot other dictatora like Putin. I could go on, but I'll close by referring back to the Nazi Germany parenthetical references made in my opening. We clearly are on a road to this form of government. Right now the executive branch more resembles 1930s Germany rather than the examples set in 1776 and the late 18th century when great men created our Republic, if we can keep it. Are you prepared to keep it?
